The Aviation Academy Austria opened its doors for the third time at Wiener Neustadt Ost airfield and hosted an eventful Open Day. More than 450 participants - including those interested in ATPL and PPL training, active flight students with family and friends and numerous alumni - took the opportunity to take an exciting look at the world of pilot training.
In informative presentations, the guests were given comprehensive insights into the training process for professional and private pilots. Topics such as costs, requirements, financing options and job prospects were just as much a focus as personal experience reports. Active flight students, who themselves were looking for the right information some time ago, passed on their impressions of everyday training and proudly showed what they had already learned.
A special highlight was the direct contact with the pilot training: Visitors were able to take a detailed look at the premises of the flight school, talk to flight instructors and take a seat in the training aircraft - a moment that made many faces light up. An airline atmosphere was created when the guests were allowed to look over the shoulders of the flight students in the Airbus A320 simulator. There, the professionalism with which the young pilots have already mastered an airline jet became impressively clear.
The exhibited aircraft models DA62, DA50 and DART from Diamond Aircraft, the renowned Austrian manufacturer that supplies the Aviation Academy Austria with training aircraft, also generated a lot of enthusiasm. Another highlight came when former student Christian reported on his career path: just a few months after completing his ATPL training, he was already flying as a first officer on a private jet. He brought his current aircraft - a Pilatus PC-12 - with him to the event. The opportunity to take a seat in a private jet was an extraordinary experience for many visitors.
In addition to the professional impressions, there was also plenty of social interaction. A food truck provided culinary delights, while the lively discussions and exchange of experiences continued into the early evening hours.
The Aviation Academy Austria would like to thank all visitors, the dedicated flight students, Wiener Neustadt Ost airfield and all partners for an all-round successful and inspiring event.
